Bedroom Door Wreath {tutorial} with vixenMade

Can you believe it's the last day of June already?! Where did this month go?
I'm so excited to have my bloggy friend, Victoria, here to share a fun tutorial with us today!

Hey everyone!!
I am so pumped to be here today!  Kara is such a doll and I love her blog so I was ecstatic when she asked me to be a guest.
Anyways, so I'm Victoria.  Or the 'vixen' of vixenMade.
I'm a bit crazy when it comes to crafting.  I love doing it and love it even more when my kids love what I make them.  With three kids at home, it makes it a challenge to create, but I manage to find time and probably stay up a little too late doing so.
Well, today I'm sharing a wreath I made recently.  I made it for my daughter's bedroom door.  I love how it's  used with the fabrics in her room and it kind of personalizes her space a little more.  Plus.  She loved it!

Here's how easy it is to make one.

Get some heavier cardboard to cut out a wreath form from.
I traced a clock for the outer circle and a lid for the inner one.  Just find something in a circle shape that's the size you want.

Carefully, cut out your wreath form with a utility knife.

Now cut out another one.

Tape the two shapes together with packaging tape.  That should make your form thick and sturdy enough to use.

Now get together your fabric scraps.  I used a bunch of fabrics leftover from my daughter's bedroom and anything else in the colors for her room.

Cut slits in a 10" or 11" wide piece of fabric.

Then tear away!  It's actually kinda fun!
Once you've got all you think you need you can get to work.

Just tie them on with a double knot alternating your fabrics.

Until you reach the end.  Now sit back and admire.

I love the color combo!

If you want you can add a little cluster of fabric rosettes of your choice.  I actually used an old rosette cluster I made from my daughter's old 'bubblegum headband'.  She accidentally broke the headband, but I decided to save this piece.  Came in handy for this!

Hot glue it onto your wreath and you can hang that prettiness up!

Girly and sweet, perfect for her bedroom door.

I used a length of tulle ribbon to hang mine.

I wasn't sure about the bedroom door wreath thing, but now I love it.  I almost want one for mine, too!

Thanks again for having me, Kara!  Hope you all enjoyed the tutorial.

LOVE the idea of a bedroom wreath! I'm working on my daughter's room right now and I can see making one of these in my near future. Thanks for sharing with us, Victoria! If you haven't been over to vixenMade, it's a MUST!

Food-a-licious Friday {86} White Chocolate Cashew Cookies

I'm on a cookie kick.
I'm having fun playing around with my cookie recipes and changing up the flavors. Here's what I came up with about a week ago.

Oh boy are they GOOD!
Did you see the Almond Butterscotch Cookies I shared a couple of weeks ago? Well, I'm going to use almost the same recipe for these cookies.

Ingredients:
1 cup butter (melted)
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla or almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour (I used wheat flour)
2 eggs
pinch of salt
1/4 tsp of baking powder
1/2 bag of white chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped cashews

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter, sugars, and extract together until sugar is dissolved.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Slowly whisk this dry mixture in with the butter and sugar mixture.
Add the two eggs and whisk thoroughly.
Fold in the white chocolate chips and cashews.
Spoon the dough onto a baking sheet and bake at 350* for 8-10 minutes.
Remove from oven and transfer the cookies to a cooling rack.
Repeat until all of the dough is gone.
Makes 24-36 cookies.

The treat jar is full...but not for long! SO GOOD!

My secret to a perfectly baked cookie?

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

Land of the Free because of the Brave {print}

I have a love/hate relationship with summertime.
I love all of the FUN things we get to do, the people we get to spend time with, the traditions that we share, the memories we make, and the holidays we celebrate.
But I hate the sweltering 111 degree sun and the fact that the ac is out on my car.
You can see why I have this relationship with summertime.

One thing is for sure... I celebrating Independence Day.

I love this country we live in.

I love the everyday freedoms and daily blessings I receive because of our courageous soldiers

I am so grateful for their sacrifices and for the sacrifices their families make...

So I can read what I want, eat what I want, listen to what I want, watch what I want, say what I want, write what I want, believe what I want, do what I want, love what I want, dream what I want, achieve what I want.
I am grateful for my freedom.
I am grateful for the brave.
God bless America.

Feel free to download this print I created; it's free to MFTM readers (follow along!).
